Transforming a listed farmhouse in the English countryside

Nestled amidst quintessential English countryside is this listed farmhouse steeped in history. Its charm is palpable. The low ceilings, exposed beams, wonky walls and irregular rooms serve as the historic backbone of the project and whilst preserving theauthenticity of the building we embellished this family home with a beautiful palette of colour, varying textures and patterns to create a timeless scheme.

Master Bedroom

The master bedroom has an outstanding view of the gardens, so we decided to integrate the surroundings outside with the interior by using green as the lead colour. The walls of the master bedroom are decorated with a fresh leafy wallpaper, Beech by Lewis &
Wood, which weaves up and around the room blurring the line between inside and outside. The curtains are simple and classic in style in a herringbone by Colefax & Fowler, however the wide velvet edging adds an element of luxury. The pinks and greens in the wallpaper are picked out by the soft tones in the rug sourced from Farnham Antiques.

A boy’s blue and green retreat

We began the scheme with this statement headboard upholstered in a pretty linen adorned with wildflowers and animals by Lewis & Wood which is inspired by an Arts & Crafts embroidery by the daughter of William Morris.

We focused on the greens and blues; the lamps contrast beautifully with the plain blue walls and the geometric cushions with the florals.

Attic Bedroom

The attic bedroom feels like a hidden sanctuary, nestled under the roof with a sense of rustic charm. We created a comfortable and liveable space using soft and warm colours and textures which work well alongside the irregular beams and rural setting. We added small touches of luxury and sophistication, for example by using velvet buttoning and piping. The result is a timeless cosy retreat.

Pretty in Pink

The aim was to create a feminine but striking bedroom for our client’s daughter. We used plenty of florals, pinks and patterns of varying scales for depth and interest. The starting point was this striking shaped headboard with a large-scale print which became the focal point. We kept the walls simple in Pale Powder buy Farrow and Ball and used a smaller scale pretty print for the curtains. The sheer and frilled dressing tablecloth breathes femininity and an ethereal quality into the room whereas the vibrant

Georgie Wykeham side tables add some weight and playfulness.
