Championing British Brands

Interior Trends “Shop Local Buy British”

With all that we encountered in 2020 and the current need to stay local and stay home, there is a trend towards shopping and sourcing local and handmade. We are now choosing to support and protect local British businesses.  There is also no doubt that we have also become more conscious that we are an island, with the focus on Brexit and our formal departure from Europe earlier this year.

We are choosing British made. Not only has Lockdown reduced our air miles, but we are also seeking to reduce our environmental impact. Increasingly there’s a focus on one off hand made products. These are used to add a bespoke, personal feel to a room. We’re seeing more young people taking on apprenticeships in handmade products, and fabric houses and furniture makers are manufacturing in the UK.

Here are just some of my favourite designers, demonstrating quality British design and craftmanship.

I love these cushions, they are hand printed and made in Britain @raptureandwright and we’ve just put some of these in our latest Barn project.

Sarah Blomfield Studio is a trained artist producing hand painted lamp shades, bespoke designs which can be painted to complement any individual interior scheme.  Please contact her studio to discuss individual commissions.   And I particularly like this fabric design by @raptureandwright cut perfectly for @Davidseyfried’s  Editor’s chair. A strong colour palette, yet so vibrant and fresh, evoking much needed thoughts of Spring.

KCHossack Studio produces beautiful handmade pottery and I particularly like this pretty scallop edged range, available from the studio or at Liberty’s.

This is just a highlight of some of the brands I am currently working with. We have such a wealth of talented designers and artists here, at home in Britain, and it is very important to me to be supporting and championing our own creative British talent at this time.

Love,

Lucy X
